Hello people!!! Great to see you guys again. How has the weeks been, expecially the two home-learning days? What was your opinion of it? Did you like it at all? Without further ado, let me continue. (:
Honestly, and also to put it simply, I did not enjoy the home-learning part. I felt that it was pretty bland and I was like saying to myself, "That's all?" for some of the subjects. It did not succeed in capturing my attention. I digressed pretty quickly and was soon on youtube.
One thing that surely disturbed me was the timetable given. At first I thought that it was very useful. HOWEVER, I forgot to save it in my computer. Hence I re-checked the SMB and, it basically disappeared into cyberspace. I could not find it. I had to consult my friends and they faced with the same situation too(or at least some)! I felt very lost.
One thing that I thought really lacked was the communication platforms. From what I know, it was very difficult to talk with friends online. We had to use our own platforms such as MSN and Facebook to talk with friends online. However, the process becomes terribly tedious and I experienced great difficulty too.
Ok... back to the timetable stuff. Regarding the timetable, I felt that it was not useful. It was very unbalanced as the workload for each subject was different. For instance, Science took more than an hour compared to Math but the timetable indicated that we proceed on which made things really messy. I lost track of many things that I had to do.
All in all, I felt that the recent home-learning lessons were not too effective. It could be because we were not independent enough to handle and organize our matters. Hence, I do not blame either side for the home-learning. For the students' side it could be that we should be more flexible and learn to handle things more effectively without a teacher. For the schools' side it could be that they could put more captivating content to capture our attention and also set a better timetable. I cannot confirm and neither do I want to say that my suggestions are correct. I hope that in the future our home-learning lessons will be much more effective and easier for both sides. Hope you got a better understanding on my opinion on the recent home-learning lessons.

CCA!
Hello! It's me again! :D
If you did not know, I have been posted to the Hwa Chong Chinese Orchestra. My sister recommended me and I 'sort of' had an affliation with a member of the orcestra as my sister is a good friend of him. I am not too sure though. Perhaps he had helped me to enter the Chinese Orchestra team.
I have been posted to this instrument called the 'suo na'. It looks like this mini sized trumpet. It is probably not a lot more 30 odd centimetres long. Do not underestimate its 'power' though. It is actually a very loud instrument, in fact one of the loudest in the whole orchestra. It is terribly loud. I am most certainly going to have my ear drums burst. My seniors told me in sarcasm that I ''had to play this instrument for the next four years in Hwa Chong''. How nasty. I initially wanted to choose the "zhongruan'', a string instrument, but since I did not have enough background of that instrument compared to 2 other people who also wanted the intrument, I was not applicable for it. Whats more, they are only accepting 2 people. So, technically speaking, I had not much a choice in deciding my instrument. Let me tell you the 'story'.
I had this 'old friend' who is also in Hwa Chong. He recommended me to join the 'zhongruan' team but however, they are only accepting 2 people. At first we had planned to be the 2 people joining the team but however, we were later informed that 1 place has been reserved for a student who was 100% getting accepted into the team. At that point of time we faced a dilemma- should we split up or should we stay together. On selection day everyone was asked to volunteer for their preferred choice. My friend and I decided to play passive and wait till there were 2 spots of the same instrument for us to join together. However, it seemed like everyone knew what we were going to do and they "spoiled'' our plan. EVERY twin space for an instrument had been taken up. In the end, he went for the 'zhongruan' and I was the last person who is not posted to an instrument. So, they posted me to the least popular of all, the 'suo na'. I felt so lonely then. I was the ONLY Sec 1 posted for that instrument. I felt alienated. It was not a nice feeling. I could not consult any peers, I was all alone. The good thing was that the 'zhongruan' and 'suo na' team were having a combined training session for that day! I was delighted to see my friend again. That certainly cheered me up.
So far in Chinese Orchestra I am NOT having the best time. In fact I do not even enjoy it much, for now, at least. Hopefully, I will be able to appreciate and like my instrument. Alright! Thats all for now! BYE >:]

Cross Country!
Hello once again! It is Yi Da here. Today, I want to discuss about the Cross Country day. I will be touching on factors such as safety issues and other concerns.
Firstly, I thought that the Cross-Country run was certainly a lot harder than I had expected it to be. Looking at my seniors run seems so simple. However, everytime I actually run I come back panting and tired. And oh, I do no like running. What is your opinion of running? If you have the time kindly add some comments to discuss about. I shall not digress and i will continue with my point.
The cross-country run was pretty tough for me, at least. I was actually lost in the sense that I had no idea about the route. I simply followed all the people running in front of me. The lead runner sure experienced a lot of pressure as he 'decides' where people will go. The good thing was that the student leaders were very 'useful' as they stood around the borders of the tracks and served as great help to identify the course. Some of them were also very supportive and cheered for us.
Next, I have some concerns regarding the course. I know there is not much the school can do at the moment and I cannot blame anyone too. However, I think that I still need to mention this point.
Most of the run was conducted on roads in and out of Hwa Chong. As we all know, falling on the road would certainly be very nasty as the road is very rough. I think I remember seeing one student who fell on the course and the wound was quite bad. He did not run the course in the end. Yes, there is nothing the school can do. It is not like we have the funds to use a private course.
Lastly, I would talk about the playing of the songs of our choice during the race. Personally, I feel that it has not succeeded. At first, It seemed all inspiring and moivating. However, towards the end the songs were totally ignored(at least for me). Few were feeling all enthusiastic about the songs. Furthermore, the playing of the songs were jeopardized by the lack of sufficient time.
